The Problems With Cisco’s FCoE Converged Networking

Many manufacturers such as Cisco and HP continue to bang the drum of converged networks. While this is a noble goal and everyone can see the benefits in theory, the practical implementation leaves many IT managers scratching their heads in disbelief.

Cisco competes with Brocade and Qlogic in the Fibre Channel switch space and is nowhere near as dominant as it is in the Ethernet market. Cisco has come under attack in its traditional markets with new entrants such as Force10, Arista, Juniper and HP eroding its market share.
