Technology Overview

The Xsigo I/O Director dramatically reduces the capital and operational costs of server connectivity. By dynamically connecting any server to any network -- both Ethernet and Fibre Channel -- Xsigo Server Fasbric virtual I/O enables a simpler, lower cost infrastructure that eliminates the limitations of cards, cables, and switch ports.

Without_XsigoWith Xsigo Server Fabric virtual I/O, you can move, add, or change connectivity on demand. Configure up to 64 isolated connections per server through a single cable.

Networks and storage all connect to the I/O Director, which in turn connects to each server via a single cable (or two for redundancy). Xsigo offers both InfiniBand and standard Ethernet options for server connectivity.

Streamline I/O Management:

Save capital cost and respond quickly to changing application requirements with the Xsigo I/O Director, a hardware and software solution that streamlines server I/O management.

Rather than deploy multiple I/O cards and cables to every server, you can consolidate to a single cable (or two for redundancy). You can then create virtual I/O resources on the fly to deliver new connectivity -- both Fibre Channel and Ethernet -- whenever and wherever you need it.
The result is 50% less capital cost, 100X faster server management, and a 70% simpler infrastructure.

Simple Integration, High Performance, Consolidated Management:

In seconds you can deploy virtual NICs and HBAs to live servers, without re-booting. you can dynamically configure isolated storage and networks connections from your servers to specific resources. You can also set quality of service (QOS) parameters to guarantee bandwidth. You can create the equivalent of a cabled connection without ever touching a wire.

Only Xsigo can offer you the choice of fabrics -- standard Ethernet and InfiniBand -- so you can optimise the deployment to meet your performance and cost objectives. Both can be managed from a single management environment.
